Debt Re-Aging and Credit Reporting: What to Check
Debt re-aging generally describes an inaccurate change to the delinquency date that controls how long a collection or charge-off item may be reported. A payment arrangement, debt sale, or new collector does not by itself create a new date of first delinquency; consumers and furnishers should verify the underlying account history and use the credit-report dispute process when a reported date appears wrong.
